Have a soon-to-be high school senior in the house? UNBELIEVABLE! Those school years go so quickly - document their senior year with photos that show their personality. McKenna Moments offers both formal, studio sessions (cap and gown, tux, drape poses for the yearbook) and casual sessions.
Please check with your individual high school regarding their requirements for yearbook submissions. Many local schools allow independent photographers to submit posed photos for the yearbook, but you are responsible for confirming the availability to do that. Many parents decide to have formal photos done with McKenna Moments even if they had yearbook photos taken by the school photographer, due to the often high price of the prints offered by the companies that do the senior photography at the high schools. With McKenna Moments, you get to choose what session works best for your Senior and your budget. Casual sessions can be catered to your senior- highlight a sport or favorite school activity, or let's just capture beautiful memories of a fun session at a local park, so you can treasure what they look like during this important milestone in their lives.
Casual and Formal sessions can be scheduled on different dates to allow for different hair/makeup looks, as well as allowing McKenna Moments to schedule sessions in the most economical way to keep session fees reasonable. Contact me by July 30, before your child's senior year begins, to get the best availability during the busy late summer and fall seasons.
All Session Fees are due at, or prior to, the session date. *Deposit required to reserve sessions-see below
A $50 non-refundable deposit is due to reserve your date and time, but will be credited toward your session fee. The deposit can be moved to a new date if rescheduling is necessary; however, it is non-refundable if the customer cancels their session and does not reschedule within 12 months of the original session date.

Need to Know Info for Senior Sessions
Ladies
Yearbook Formals:
NOT ALL SCHOOLS ALLOW AN ‘OUTSIDE’ PHOTOGRAPHER to submit yearbook photos. As of now, Octorara and Oxford do accept McKenna Moments photos. It is your responsibility to contact your yearbook advisor ahead of time to be sure you can use a McKenna Moments photo and to advise me at least 3 weeks in advance of your appointment, of any requirements (certain backgrounds, etc.)
Many people choose to have the free Lifetouch (or other) photo taken for the yearbook and still get formals with McKenna Moments, to avoid paying the often very high prices for prints that is charged by the school photographers. With McKenna Moments, you will get all of your digital images – and, purchasing professional prints through me is an affordable way to preserve your memories beautifully, though you are welcome to get prints made anywhere from your digital images.
-
- Wear a cami or strapless shirt/undershirt
- Remove hair ties from wrists- preferably earlier in the day, to avoid redness & indentations
- Don’t get sunburn/tan lines on your shoulders within 2 weeks of your session!
- Wear your regular date/formal makeup, you want to look like you!
- Try out the hairstyle you want to have for your pictures, several days beforehand, so you are sure that’s the look you want to see when you look back at your senior photos!
- The cap and gown photos we will do last, so your hair isn’t messed up from the cap J
- Please advise me prior to your session if you’d like both your sending school & TCHS cap/gown photos. You are also welcome to bring your cosmetology cape/scissors, Health Sciences scrubs, etc. See the TCHS add-on option above
Casual Photos:
-
- Bring changes of outfits, if the session you chose allows for it
- Flowy dresses are pretty in outdoor photos
- Wear your favorite look – jeans/boots/jewelry/dresses. You want your pictures to truly capture your senior self
- Pinterest is a great place to look for outfit ideas and pose ideas! Feel free to start & share a board with me: Shelli Miller McKenna
- The best photos are those taken of someone who is confidant and comfortable with themselves. Be sure you wear your ‘power look’ that makes you feel like a million dollars. If you feel it, it will show!
- Come with an open mind and ideas of what you like. I don’t often ‘pose’ people because I want you to look natural. I will give you ideas of hand placement, body angles, etc. You’ll do what is comfortable for you. I love trying new things, so if you have an idea, share it with me- let’s give it a try! I often find the most beautiful pictures are taken in the last 10 minutes of a session- by then, my ‘model’ is usually feeling very comfortable and is ready to be themselves. The quicker we get that rapport, the more awesome moments we’ll capture J
Other ideas:
-
- Do you play a sport? Consider wearing your uniform or jersey, bringing a ball, special cleats, etc. We can arrange to do these on a field at your school, too, to really personalize the pictures.
- Do you ride horses? I’d love to take some pictures of you and your horse and/or you riding.
- Do you love your car or truck? We can incorporate it into some of the pictures!
- Do you play an instrument?
- Do you live on a farm, or have some special place near your home that you enjoy (a particular park, creek, etc.?) If so, let’s incorporate that to capture the places your senior self loves the most.
- Have other ideas? Great! Just give me a heads up so I can think on how I would like to approach your session, from the camera’s perspective.

- Bring a button up dress shirt & tie (I have a tie in the studio if you don't have one), for under the cap & gown (preferably your tie should not clash with the color of your school’s gown – Octorara is a navy blue, TCHS, Avon Grove & Oxford are maroon). Please advise me prior to your session if you’d like both your sending school & TCHS cap/gown photos (see the TCHS add on option above)
- I have a selection of tux shirts & jackets. I also have bow ties. If you have your own tux, feel free to bring it.
